Nashville has become known for rooftop views. There are a lot of great options in town for looking out at the city from a rooftop. This column is about two recent rooftops Connie and I have explored. One of the tricks of rooftops is to know they are there and to know they are available to the public. I always feel like I am sneaking into a place when I am going to a rooftop bar. To counter this I always think about my years of working in the restaurant and bar industry. I always wanted customers to come in.
Another consideration I use for rooftops is the reason why I am going to one. For the two I am sharing on this post the reasons are very different. One, The Skybar Capitol View at Hampton Inn and Suites at Capitol View. It is a nice hotel in a comfortable part of town that is close to downtown Nashville. This is a comfortable place, with a nice relaxing view, for those who like rooftops. It has a nice closed in space, with some open rooftop space, both of which have nice televisions to watch. For guests there is also a pool area. There are good happy hour deals Sunday through Wednesday evenings. It is a very nice place to stop in and enjoy a drink and get a bird’s eye view of part of the city. This is a very good place to enjoy a rooftop if you are in the area. You are in the area if you have just left the Nashville Farmer’s Market.
A great reason to go on a rooftop is to get views of Nashville that are breathtaking. From thai type of view you can take the pictures that are must view social media posts and memories. The Grand Hyatt in Nashville is very well located between the new Nashville Yards complex and the Honky Tonk world of Lower Broadway. It also provides, from its roof, the best 360 degree view of Nashville that I have seen. The Grand Hyatt lobby is absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of reasons to stop there and take in the ambience and have a drink or sit by the fireplace.
It takes a little extra effort to find the elevators, and a little bit more to find the button for the rooftop restaurant at Lou/Na. Connie and I took a rideshare to the Grand Hyatt on a Friday around 5:30. When we went to the roof there were as many employees as there were guests. There were many open seats at the bar, space on the Broadway view side of the roof, and the more intimate side of the roof was nearly completely available. The view of Broadway is fantastic. It is the best view of the Gulch that I have seen. And, I hope you are someone that just appreciates the view from the 25th floor over a city. It is what it is. The prices and offerings are more than adequate. I suggest you get this view of Nashville while you are visiting.
